Lunarland came into being in 1995. I borrowed a 4-track cassette based studio from my good friend Duncan, and I discovered that I could write a cracking tune. The first demo of 10 tracks was written and recorded it over the space of a week, using nothing more than a cheap electric guitar, an FX unit and a borrowed drum machine.
Not long after completing this demo, Simon Robinson of English Electric records offered to release it on his label. It was to be the follow up to Stephen Fellows' (ex-Comsat Angels singer/guitarist) 'Mood X' album.
I was pleased with the offer of a release, but was convinced that I could do much better, and that I hadn't yet found my voice. I worked toward a release with English Electric for the next few years, though unhappily it was not to be.
In 2008, I finally decided that the best Lunarland songs should see the light of day. Not wanting to sign away everything to a record company, I chose to self-release 3 albums. These are available to download from CD Baby. I really hope that some people enjoy them.
